… Rescued from the threat of demolition, and extensively renovated with flair and imagination, this elegant Victorian home, circa 1906, has been been re-created into a truly great hostel with the ambience of a guest house. Unlike institutional-style hostel or chain hotels, The WhiteHouse is intimate, relaxed and welcoming. It is a hostel created for travellers, by travellers. You can enjoy distinctive, quietly elegant private rooms or spacious and comfortable dorm share rooms, perfect for the single budget traveller. We also offer small private rooms accommodating groups of 4-8, as well as full or partial facility bookings for larger groups up to 28 people.
Our common areas invite you to make yourself at home, and offer you the chance to meet interesting people from all walks of life, and from around the world. And this is one of the things that makes hostelling so great! There are quiet spaces for reading, areas to socialize, plenty of games to play, books and magazines to borrow, an Ipod dock and CD player.
Get off the beaten track and discover our unique little hostel, tucked away in a glorious part of the Selkirk Mountains, in uber-funky Nelson, British Columbia.
*Note: The WhiteHouse Backpacker Lodge has not, to our knowledge, housed any current or former US presidents, and does not seek to endorse or promote America’s White House, especially not foolish former presidents (fool me once … ). The WhiteHouse in Nelson BC is just a big, white house!
