Mountains
HikingNelson is cradled in the Selkirk Mountains, which tower to over 3500 metres. The Selkirks provide not only a beautiful setting and refuge to an abundance of wildlife (eg. deer, elk, moose and bear), but also many scenic hiking opportunities. Discover trails in Kokanee Glacier Provincial Park, Valhalla Provincial Park, and elsewhere in the Kootenays, including easily accessible Pulpit Rock and Pilot Bay Provincial Park. Guided hikes available too with Summit Mountain Guides. |

There are also cross-country bike trails accessible from town which offer a more relaxed pace. Bike hire available at Gericks or Sacred Ride. For a guided bike trip or shuttle service contact Wright Wheels. |
